Pompei

Pompei is the only archaeological site in the world able to show the appearance of an ancient Roman city in its entirety. Full of traffic and pulsating with life, the city was crystallized as the famous eruption of AD 79, during which a rain of ash and lapilli enveloping everything: houses, people, roads, public buildings and objects of everyday life. Everything was as “locked” in a terrible instant. catastrophe, a cataclysm which has the merit, however, have enabled the outstanding preservation of the city and its treasures: the urban, public monuments and religious buildings, the fine houses adorned with mosaics and world-famous wall paintings, the places where they carried out the activities of daily life. Its 44 acres of excavated area, Pompeii is one of the most famous archaeological sites and visited in the world, with over two million visitors a year.
