Pompei is the only archaeological site in the world able to show the appearance of an ancient Roman city in its entirety. Full of traffic and pulsating with life, the city was crystallized as the famous eruption of AD 79, during which a rain of ash and lapilli enveloping everything: houses, people, roads, public buildings and objects of everyday life.
